Putting printers first!
According to research by income protection specialist Unum, IT firms are more likely to insure assets such as mobiles and printers than they are their people.
Despite only a quarter admitting they would be “very or extremely concerned” if these were to break almost half of companies in the IT sector have insurance for easily replaceable assets, such as printers.
On the other hand, although 89% of IT businesses recognise that employees are one of their company’s most important assets, over a third admitted they only offer “adequate” employee benefits packages or that they could do more to protect their staff. With less than a third of companies in the IT sector protecting against long-term sickness by offering income protection as part of their employee benefits package.
This seems to show a mismatch in what companies value against what they protect!
