3D printing in the medical industry

3D printing, as we suspected, is becoming ever integrated into everyday life, utilised to make daily routines easier. It can even improve quality of life, having been used to create synthetic body parts and most remarkably it has been used on a number of occasions to successfully reconstruct patient’s faces!

3D printed components such as custom-made structural implants have enabled medical professionals to reconstruct patient’s faces after accidents and injury. 3D printed models have even been used to practice complex surgery, to ensure great results for the actual operations.

The materials used for 3D printed reconstructive surgery components are, of course, not your typical plastics. Instead, the materials used have zero toxicity and will eventually meld into the actual bone over time, eventually creating a natural structure!
