What do you get for the person who has everything? 3D print yourself this Christmas!

This festive season iMakr, the world’s largest 3D printing store, is opening a pop-up shop in London’s Selfridges. The temporary outlet will feature a 3D scanning booth where visitors can have themselves digitally scanned and printed out as a miniature model for around £150.

iMakr’s mission is to bring the 3D printer into the home. From its store in Farringdon, East London, it showcases affordable 3D printers and hosts demonstrations and training sessions in the hope of making the technology more accessible.

There are however, some limitations to the 3D scanning booth process – curly hair doesn’t come out well, neither does splayed fingers, baggy or dark-coloured clothing. But these are small quirks to consider when the end result is holding a miniature version of yourself or loved one in your hand.

Although the iMakr pop-up shop will be in-situ at the Oxford Street department store from October 18 until at least Christmas, it may be extending its stay depending on public interest.
