3D milled ice sculptures

3D printing is moving into creating works of art out of different materials, including ice! These amazing ice cube sculptures were made by a creative Japanese company using a CNC milling machine which, as pointed out, isn’t exactly the same as a 3D printer but relies on similar technology. We think that the 3D printer should be adapted to enable it to make this amazing product! A 3D printer may also be able to speed up the process, which is currently anything between one and six hours per ice cube!

The ice cubes were milled in a freezer to prevent the cubes from melting whilst being created. We don’t think it will be long until an actual 3D printer will be making these sculptures and what better way for an innovative drinks company to expand their portfolio and boost their sales?! These ice cubes can be used in a variety of drinks and think, as always with 3D printing, of the limitless possibilities of ice cube sculpture shapes!
